No Naruto This Week

There is no Naruto or SJ this week. SJ was a double issue last week as next week in Japan is a holiday. Hopefully, someone will leak and scan the lastest chapter early next week like the Golden Holiday week in Japan last time.

Naruto 316, 317 and 318 Summary

It is time to catch up on the Naruto Summaries...I have read them all, but am not able to update the blog...Summaries are taken from Wikipedia with slight modifications, but I have divided them into the Chapters...

Chapter 316 & 317 (from Wikipedia):
Naruto's training consists of each clone holding a leaf and attempting to split the leaf with just their chakra (basically an entire tree full of leaves is being used by the clones). The Naruto clones used up all of the leaves in the tree. When one of the clones tears part of the leaf, Kakashi remarks that the training might go a bit quicker than he expected.

Elsewhere, the new Akatsuki team of Deidara and Tobi confront the Sanbi ("Three-Tails"). Tobi is a full fledge Akatsuki now, replacing Sasori (as Tobi got his Sasori's ring when he died). Tobi is reluctant to attack and asks Deidara to cover for him, but Deidara says that Tobi is Akatsuki now, and will have to pull his own weight. The Sanbi attacks and Tobi runs and draws the demons attention. Deidara follows them and creates a clay fish that swims down near the demon's head before exploding. Sanbi is wild and is not a Jinchūriki.

Yamato is sitting inside a circle, surrounded by dragon-headed pillars, performing a seal to keep the Kyubi's chakra in check. Kakashi asks how he's doing and calls him Tenzou. Yamato says he's fine and asks Kakashi to use his codename instead of Tenzou.

Naruto and his clones continue to practice 'splitting' leaves. Some clones have progressed more than others, which aggravates the less advanced clones. Naruto asks Kakashi if there is anyone else in Konaha that has 'wind' chakra; Kakashi tells him to see Asuma.

Asuma has just lost another game to Shikamaru when Naruto shows up and asks Asuma if he can give him some tips on using wind-based chakra. Shikamaru makes fun of Naruto saying that chakra manipulation is difficult, so he can't imagine Naruto doing it. Asuma makes a deal with Naruto; he will give him some pointers if he buys the next meal for Asuma's team after their next mission. Asuma pulls out his trench knives and says they're a special metal that absorbs a wielder's chakra and has Naruto flow his chakra into it. Asuma explains that to use wind chakra you have to split it into two parts then bring the two pieces together forming a tight edge. The tighter and more compact the edge between the two parts, the 'sharper' the chakra becomes. Naruto wonders why he would use wind chakra to 'cut' things when they have weapons that can do the same thing. Asuma demonstrates by having both of them throw a trench knife infused with wind chakra at a tree. When Naruto's blade hits the tree it sticks, but Asuma's blade cuts through the tree and pierces a rock behind it. Asuma says had he been using his full chakra he would have cut through the rock as well, which shocks Naruto. Naruto thanks Asuma then disperses, revealing that it was a clone. Asuma comments that Naruto should have remembered Choji was on his team before making their deal; Shikamaru thinks Asuma is cruel.

The other Narutos suddenly understand what the clone learned and Kakashi comments that Naruto's finally beginning to understand how to truly use his Kage Bunshin to learn.

Tsunade is briefed about Akatsuki's actions by the lone survivor of the Fire Temple massacre. Concerned over these new revelations, Tsunade ordered Shizune to mobilize the new task force, the Nijū Shōtai.

Kakashi says it is time for Naruto to put what he's learned to use. Naruto disperses his clones and Yamato, clearly exhausted, stops his seal. Naruto comments on how strong he feels but before he has the chance to prove it he passes out in Kakashi's arms. Kakashi notes that the physical and mental strain on Naruto has finally taken it's toll.

Chapter 318 (from Wikipedia):

Tobi stands atop of the defeated Sanbi and gloats about how he brought down the demon. Deidara, unamused, reminds Tobi that his exploding clay was the deciding factor. Deidara tells Tobi that an Akatsuki should be more reserved and not such a loud-mouth. Tobi remarks that Deidara's the only one with a loud-mouth at the moment. Deidara gets a murderous look in his eyes and Tobi says he's just kidding, but this doesn't stop him from getting a thrashing from his partner.

Naruto and his clones are once again splitting leaves but this time they all are able to slice them in half, drawing big cheers (from the Naruto Clones). Kakashi remarks that it was a brilliant training idea and Naruto is learning extremely quickly. Naruto is eager to move to the next phase but passes out into Kakashi's arms once again. When Naruto regains conciousness Kakashi warns him that this form of training is going to wear him down quickly, and that he needs to rest for the next phase of his training....slicing Yamato's waterfall in half. Yamato says in order to master large bursts of wind chakra Naruto will learn to cut the waterfall in two just by putting his hands under it. Doing this will finally give Naruto the real skills he needs for battle. Kakashi is amazed that someone like Naruto could learn nature manipulation so fast and that the training has exceeded all his hopes.

As Deidara's clay birds drag the Sanbi to the shore he comments that Tobi shouldn't be so overconfident, since the Sanbi was not a Jinchūriki and couldn't use it's powers. Tobi lies silently on the demon's back and when he doesn't respond Deidara says he doesn't need to act 'that' restrained. However, when a snore escapes Tobi's mask another murderous look crosses Deidara's face and he blasts Tobi with his clay again.

Hidan and Kakuzu are walking through the woods and Kakuzu wants Hidan to carry the monk's body for awhile. Hidan refuses saying Kakuzu was the one who wanted the bounty so he has to carry him. Kakuzu gave Hidan a harsh look before saying Hidan will be the death of him.

Tsunade finishes briefing the Nijū Shōtai about their new mission. Nijū Shōtai consist of 20 4-man-teams. So, there are 80 shinobis in this group; Morino Ibiki is seen as one of the Nijū Shōtai. Asuma asks about the head monk from the temple and learns, to his shock, that the Akatsuki members killed him. Tsundae stated that since the Akatsuki members are so powerful, if they can't capture them, they're to kill them at all costs. The shinobi move out and Asuma's group leaves for the Fire Temple. Asuma's group consists of Asuma, Shikamaru, Kamizuki Izumo and Hagane Kotetsu.
