Shika uses his Shadow Bind Jutsu and try to move Hidan out of his ceremony circle. Hidan's weapon is a long range weapon. He uses it to draw blood from the opponent. Using the blood, he ingest it and his body changes color. The opponent is now "cursed".
Blood of the opponent is not enough...For the and jutsu to work, he needed to make the ceremony circle and be inside it. Team Asuma is amazed at Shika...Even Kakuzu is impressed and amazed at Shika's deduction.
Shika drags Hidan out of the circle and Asuma cut his head off. The "curse" has worn off and Asuma did not get injured. Even though Hidan is now headless, he can still talk. He asks Kakuzu to bring his body back.

It is possible that other teams will come to Team Asuma's aid next chapter. But, I don't think that they will come until the end of the chapter.
