Naruto Chapter 323, 324
There are much action going on in these two chapters, but the main plot is the fight between Kakuzu/Hidan and Team Asuma (Asuma, Shikamaru ,Izumo and Kotetsu).
As noted before, Kakuzu commented that Hidan cannot be killed and IT IS the case that Hidan cannot be killed by normal means.
Izumo and Kotetsu hit Hidan fatally, but he is still standing. Hidan later used Asuma's blood to start his ceremony. Asuma tried to use his wind and fire attacks, but they are all rebounded back to Asuma. Hidan asked Asuma whether he is enjoying the pain. Hidan's ritual allows all attacks against him to rebound back. If Hidan was to stab himself fatally, Asuma will die.
Shika uses his Shadow Bind to keep Hidan from doing any further damage. Izumo and Kotetsu has called for backup; but the other teams will not come to aid until 10-20 mins later. During this time, Shika thought back to all of the things that Hidan did and tries to find a loophole in his jutsu. Speech, Personality, Expression patterns, His possesions, His movement until now...The meaning of all those actions... And the relationships within his actions. Using these information, Shika uses them as guides to make a counter-jutsu, a hypothesis on its probability and use. Shikamaru has found a solution and tell Captain-Asuma to get ready.
-- I believe that Hidan's weakness is the ritual circle that he is standing on. If they are about to push him out of his circle, his jutsu will break, and they may be able to attack him without hurting Asuma. This is highly probable as Hidan's weapon is a long-range weapon -- to keep enemies away from him - his weakness. But, how are they going to get close to him?! and without Kakuzu interferring....
